Site Operative – Barking (IG11)
Pay: £12.86 per hour
Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, 5 days out of 7 (weekend working included)
Smart Solutions are currently seeking a Site Operative to join our team at a busy site in Barking (IG11). This role is ideal for someone with a flexible, proactive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn. You’ll be part of a hardworking team delivering an essential service to the local community.
About the Role
As a Site Operative, you will support the day‑to‑day running of the site, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with site procedures.
Full training will be provided, and previous experience at a Transfer Station or Recycling Centre is helpful but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe and tidy working environment, including walkways and roadways
- Follow all site operating procedures and health & safety rules
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and members of the public
- Traffic marshalling – guiding vehicles into parking areas when required
- Directing and advising the public on where to dispose of recyclable materials
- Supporting efforts to ensure minimal contamination in recycling streams
- Reporting safety concerns or operational issues to the Team Leader or Manager
- Carrying out general housekeeping and site duties as needed
