The Senior Director, Procurement, GNFR will be an accomplished procurement leader working for a similar scale business to ASDA in UK Retail or related sector. The ideal candidate will be a commercial expert across the GNFR category with a proven track record of implementing and executing a cost saving strategy of c£150m per annum as well as delivering a cash improvement programme of c£250m. This role with have category ownership of GNFR across the ASDA Group and will lead a team of 35 through a leadership team of 6 Senior Managers.

Ability to lead a team of GNFR specialists across the ASDA Group with key domain expertise that will allow the team to optimise costs and cash flow within the retail function, fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier performance
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives and ensure efficient procurement processes
  • Oversee risk management and compliance within the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop the operating model, reset what good looks like and commercialise
  • Report on Procurement performance and contribute to strategic planning
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stkeholders
  • Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to implement sustainable and innovative strategies, and to evolve the strategy as technology, markets, and business needs change.
  • A proven track record of creating and implementing an ESG Framework: Ability to define and implement an ESG Framework and reporting function that meets with ESG regulations, containing the right reporting content, data requirements and reporting structure that will stand up to any external compliance review. Ability to Align ESG reporting with key mandatory and voluntary reporting frameworks. These could include the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, UK Climate-related financial disclosures and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards.

  • Proven experience as Director of Procurement ideally GNFR or similar role within a Retailer or related business of similar size and scope to ASDA.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across the team and collaborate to develop flexible solutions.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain management and procurement best practices.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with data to drive decisions.
  • Capable of challenging industry norms and identifying opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Experience in leading complex supplier negotiations.
  • Proven ability to influence and navigate SVP/VP/CXO stakeholders and suppliers to drive meaningful change.
  • Experience in complex supply chain environments.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage risk and complexity effectively.
  • Commercially savvy
