About our opportunity:
The Process and Quality Manager has overall responsibility for the Management and control of quality on site, maintaining agreed quality standards in line with key business objectives and identifying opportunities to enhance margin and process separation performance and efficiency.
Working as part of the Senior Management team, the Process and Quality Manager will represent the customer internally, maintaining the Business Management System for Process and Quality, manage quality control processes and promote quality assurance across all aspects of the business. They will also be responsible for the management of all new product and process development and supporting the sales team in aligning the plant’s products with the end markets.

Working with key internal stakeholders, the broader EMR quality team and internal EMR and third party suppliers to develop better quality incoming raw materials and reducing waste across the supply chain eliminating at source where possible. Develop, maintain & control the Business Management System, issue performance reports and make improvement recommendations, in accordance with International Standards BS EN ISO9001:2008 and BS EN ISO14001:2004
What You Will Be Doing:
As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, efficiency, and compliance of the laboratory and production processes. Your responsibilities will include:
Quality Audits and Certification
• Coordinate, facilitate, and conduct internal quality audits as required.
• Manage the external certification process for the Quality System.
• Establish and maintain effective controls and documentation procedures.
Measurement and Documentation
• Develop, implement, and monitor methods for measuring key variables.
• Maintain a secure yet accessible archive system for essential documents.
Laboratory Team Management
• Recruit, train, develop, and performance-manage laboratory personnel.
• Ensure adequate resources, including the selection and installation of laboratory testing equipment, to meet departmental and business needs.
• Develop and implement testing and analysis procedures, along with the necessary training documentation.
Testing and Equipment
• Calibrate and maintain testing equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
• Coordinate the provision of test equipment and supplies to shop floor control points.
Health, Safety, and Housekeeping
• Uphold Health and Safety standards within the laboratory.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure an organised and safe working environment.
Material Analysis and Testing
• Organise the analysis and reporting of potential new raw material sources.
• Ensure all material testing is accurate and completed promptly.
• Make critical decisions regarding the quality of materials used in manufacturing, including rejection, feed combination, and equipment setup, while effectively communicating with relevant teams.
Supplier and Product Quality Management
• Collaborate with the purchasing department to establish quality requirements for external suppliers.
• Control product recipes and alternative additives to maintain quality.
• Identify methods to improve yield and optimise contaminate removal.
• Provide accurate laboratory yield data to the finance team in a timely manner.
Planning and Liaison
• Support planning and technical meetings by providing material ratios and other relevant information.
• Communicate daily with Production regarding changes to raw materials.
• Share material composition data with suppliers.
Quality Control and Process Improvement
• Create and update the control plan, implementing in-process quality checks to enhance product quality.
• Analyse test results for trends and patterns, maintaining a system for product trending.
• Use statistical methods to develop product specifications and enforce them to meet customer requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement and promote problem-solving through logical analysis and accurate data.
Compliance and Reporting
• Submit regular samples for REACH compliance and issue material compliance statements.
• Ensure adherence to all customer and supplier quality assurance procedures.
• Manage the non-conformance report (NCR) process, using corrective actions to address issues promptly.
Training and External Testing Coordination
• Develop and plan personnel training aligned with business requirements.
• Identify and coordinate with external laboratory facilities for off-site testing needs.
• Oversee external laboratory programs, including waste streams, effluent, and material property checks.
Budget and Environmental Management
• Manage the departmental budget in line with the annual plan.
• Adhere to environmental testing schedules, trend results, and communicate findings. Investigate and correct deviations promptly.
Audits and Team Collaboration
• Conduct Health & Safety and Environmental audits as required.
• Collaborate with colleagues across teams and departments to achieve business objectives.
• Report all near misses, accidents, and faulty equipment/machinery.
