Our client in Galashiels is looking for an experienced
Finance Assistant to join their busy team.
As a Finance Assistant you will play a key role in maintaining strong vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial policies, and contributing to the smooth operation of the company's accounts payable function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure invoices are properly authorised and coded
- Prepare accruals
- Maintain files and records
- Perform Bank / Cashbook input and reconciliation:
- Pay suppliers and send remittances
- Produce month end working papers file:
- Fixed Assets, enter new assets depreciate and reconcile
- Purchase and Sales Ledger reconciliations
- Any other ad-hoc duties as reasonably requested
Position Requirements
- Previous experience within a finance department
- Experience using Finance Software package desirable
- Microsoft Excel / Word working knowledge required
- Basic accounts knowledge
- Good administrative, organisational and communication skills
- Key Competencies specific to the role (presentation skills, attention to detail, capability to influence and negotiate)
- Ability to report accurate results against demanding time schedules and an ability to set priorities and multi-task
- Robust business knowledge and technical skills
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills
